Bomunsa Temple (보문사 강화) In Ganghwa-gun, Seongmodo Island, is an old temple dating back to the Silla period, around 635 AD. Within the temple grounds are several hundred-year-old trees, a cave with a Buddha statue inside, and an ancient cooking place for monks, which has been registered as a national treasure of Korea. At the back of the temple is a strangely shaped rock that is said to resemble a person's eyebrows, 10 meters high, called Nunseop, with a Buddha image painted on it. There is also a beautiful viewpoint of the West Sea, which has been used as a location for many Korean movies. Admission fee: Adults 2,000 won / Teenagers 1,500 won / Children 1,000 won Opening hours: Open every day from sunrise to sunset How to get there From Shinchon/Songjeong Station on Seoul Subway Line 5, take bus number 3000 to Ganghwa (approximately 2 hours).
