The main branch of Yeonggyeong Chinatown, the place with white jajangmyeon

My trip to Incheon was a trip where I couldn't find a trace of leisure. I clearly woke up in the morning, but I had no idea why it was 3 or 4 a.m. by the time I woke up. If I could keep up this energy on a weekday, I could easily survive for five days. If I were alone, I would have given up and stayed home playing Pokémon, but fortunately, I wasn't alone, so I decided to go. There were so many options—Oido, Hangang Park—but I decided to go to a place I'd never been before. There were also things to see nearby, and yes, Chinatown. I went there, grabbed some snacks from a Chinese snack shop, and took a walk. By this point, I was getting hungry. Looking for a place to eat, I suddenly remembered white jajangmyeon (noodles with black bean sauce) and headed there. That's how I ended up in Yeongyeong. Actually, jajangmyeon restaurants in Chinatown are as common as convenience stores outside, but I had to try some since I came all the way here. The menu was quite extensive, but since I'd already figured out what to eat while I was out, I ordered the white jjajangmyeon and white jjambbong without much thought. First, let's start with the white jjajang. Yes, that looks familiar, right? It's porridge. No, it definitely tastes like jjajang, but because it looks like that, it's almost like vegetable porridge. I think they could sell it as jjajang porridge anywhere. Of course, it tastes a little more like jjajang than regular jjajang. Jjajang jjajang. I immediately tried the white jjambbong. I can describe it in one word: "non-spicy jjambbong." So, if you're used to the spicy flavor of jjambbong, you might find the mild texture and flavor a bit off-putting. For a casual eater like me, I think I could have just the jjambbong once and the non-spicy(?) jjambbong the next time. It's loaded with ingredients and the broth is delicious, making it a great hangover cure. Lastly, I had the dumplings as a side dish. They're written as "xiaolongbao" in Chinese, but I can't tell, and the price is outrageous. Four for 8,000 won, one for 2,000 won. But is it delicious? The texture is incredible. That unique, juicy flavor is just right. Considering the preparation and ingredients, it's understandable why it's so expensive, but four bites will wipe out a whole bowl of soup. Hmm, yes.
