Masumida Shrine in Owari Province

Masumida Shrine (旧字体: 眞淸田神󠄀社󠄁) is a Shinto shrine located in Masumida, Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is a Shikinai-sha (名神大社) and the primary shrine (一宮) of Owari Province. The shrine was formerly classified as a Kokuhei Chusha and is currently listed as a Bekkaku shrine under the Association of Shinto Shrines. Masumida Shrine is the first shrine to be visited in Owari Province, known as the 'Ichinomiya,' and holds significant historical importance. The name of Ichinomiya City is derived from this shrine, highlighting its central role in the development of the area. The deity enshrined here is the grandchild of the deity worshipped at Ise Grand Shrine. The shrine is believed to bring blessings for career success, advancement, good fortune, protection from misfortune, and prosperity of descendants. Additionally, within the same grounds is Hatori Shrine, which is popular for blessings related to matchmaking and safe childbirth.
