As the first breeze of autumn sweeps across the foothills of the Wumeng Mountains, Huize, this ancient city with a history of a thousand years, quietly dons a golden veil. Carrying my camera, I wander through the streets and alleys, trying to capture with my lens the unique autumn whispers of this small town in northern Yunnan—those halos hidden in mottled tree shadows, the ginkgo murmurs falling on the bluestone paths, and the time-space dialogue woven between ancient copper coins and the modern skyline. 1. Poetic Lines of Golden Leaves at the Street Corner The streets of Huize in late autumn resemble a spilled palette, with the most striking being the ginkgo and phoenix trees standing tall at the street corners. In the third photo, under a sky so blue it’s almost transparent, the tree is covered with leaves like golden foil shimmering with a silky luster in the sunlight. The rough branches resemble dry brushstrokes in an ink painting, wildly composing an autumn rhapsody. In the fourth photo, taken from a low angle, the thick dark brown trunks hold up a rain of golden leaves, forming a strong visual symphony with the red-walled houses in the distance, reminiscent of Van Gogh’s swirling starry night. The second photo lowers the lens to the ground, where layers of ginkgo leaves weave a velvet carpet, with a few stubborn green blades peeking through. In the background, a streamlined steel bridge slices through the sky, where the ancient currency symbol and contemporary engineering aesthetics complete a cross-time handshake. In the first photo, a gracefully curved red street lamp pole topped with a solar panel stands like a futuristic sculpture against the deep blue sky. This collision of tradition and modernity is everywhere on Huize’s streets—the sixth photo shows a color symphony of orange-yellow autumn leaves and evergreen trees against a sapphire-blue sky. The glass curtain walls of modern residential buildings reflect the swirling falling leaves, composing an autumn Impressionist painting of the digital age. 3.
