The beauty of the sea of clouds in Mount Huangshan

In August 2022, I visited Mount Huangshan and was lucky enough to see the sea of clouds. It was truly magnificent and magical, ever-changing, and vast. After the rain, under the influence of high pressure, a large area of stratocumulus clouds appeared. The smoke and clouds gathered in the deep valleys and gorges, rising slowly at first, curling like a seal script, and gradually condensing into clusters and patches. Then, they quickly spread, forming a vast "ocean" of rolling white clouds and silver waves. The mountains near and far appeared and disappeared in the sea of clouds, like countless islands in the sea, sometimes hidden and sometimes visible above the "waves." Above the sea of clouds, the sky was vast and blue. When the mountain wind suddenly rose, the clouds surged in the sea of clouds, with huge waves rushing into the sky, whistling and galloping, echoing with the sound of pine waves, streams, and springs. Mount Huangshan is known as the land of clouds and mist, with peaks as its body and clouds as its clothes. Its magnificent "sea of clouds" is famous for its beauty, grandeur, strangeness, and illusion, and can be seen all year round, with the best view in winter. According to the distribution of the sea of clouds, the whole mountain has the East Sea, South Sea, West Sea, North Sea, and Heavenly Sea. Climbing Lotus Peak, Heavenly Capital Peak, and Bright Summit, you can see all the seas and enjoy the magical scenery of "the end of the sea." It is said that there are only 51 days in a year when you can see the sea of clouds in Mount Huangshan, and I was lucky to see it with my own eyes. The terrain of Mount Huangshan is complex, and the microclimate varies significantly, so some places have more rain and frost, while others have more fog and frost, and sometimes both can appear simultaneously. The strange peaks and rocks of Mount Huangshan are only highlighted by the unpredictable clouds and mist, making them more mysterious and adding to their artistic charm. The peaks and rocks of Mount Huangshan appear and disappear in the sea of clouds, seeming real and illusory, giving people a sense of the beauty of a fairyland.
