The Hui-Rao Ancient Path in the mountains of Huizhou.

The Hui-Rao Ancient Path was first built during the Tang Dynasty, paved with bluestone slabs about 4 feet long. It was a crucial route for merchants traveling from north of the Yangtze River to places like Huizhou and Raozhou, hence it was called the 'Ancient Hui Path.' The Hui-Rao Path was considered a 'national road' in ancient times. The Hui-Rao Ancient Path crossing is a segment of the Hui Path, specifically the Zhejiang Ridge section of the historical Hui (Huizhou) and Rao (Raozhou) ancient post road. It has always been a strategic military location and a major route from Wuyuan County to the ancient Huizhou Prefecture. The path stretches from Zhangqian Village in Xiuning County to Lingjiao Village in Wuyuan County, spanning a total length of 15 kilometers and a width of about 1.5 meters. The ancient path is largely well-preserved. The best hiking route for this ancient path is: Wang Village in Xiuning County - Tongzi Ridge - Lian Pit - Shiwukeng - Tangku - Tuochuan in Wuyuan - Likeng - Baishikeng - Hongguan - Lingjiao, taking approximately 13 hours. Along the way, hikers can enjoy natural scenery such as cliffs, towering forests, and babbling brooks, as well as experience the unique charm of Hui-style architecture. The Hui-Rao Ancient Path is not only an important historical and cultural route but also a scenic hiking trail.
