Guanting Reservoir, Beijing | Visit the Free Ice Age in the Suburbs of Beijing

Guanting Reservoir is located in the northwest of Beijing, spanning Huailai County in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, and Yanqing District in Beijing. It is the oldest large reservoir on the Yongding River in the Haihe River system and the first large reservoir built after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In the beginning of winter, more than 1,000 swans fly to Guanting Reservoir, where they rest, forage, and play, as if performing a brand new version of "Swan Lake." ⛸️Best Time for Ice Skating: The ice skating season at Guanting Reservoir usually starts in mid-December and lasts until the end of February of the following year. However, the specific time depends on the weather conditions, as the ice surface will be more solid when the temperature is lower. It is recommended to check the weather forecast before traveling and choose a sunny day with a lower temperature. 🚗Self-Driving Route: ● Depart from downtown Beijing, take the Beijing-Tibet Expressway (G6), and exit at "Yanqing North." ● Follow the signs to Guanting Reservoir.
