Huaibei Museum (Grand Canal Museum of the Sui and Tang Dynasties)

Huaibei Museum, also known as the Grand Canal Museum of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, is located at No. 1 Museum Road, Xiangshan District, Huaibei City, Anhui Province. Huaibei Museum is a local comprehensive museum and a national first-class museum. The museum was established in 1976, with the original museum standard inscribed by Mr. Guo Moruo. The new museum building was opened to the public in September 2004, covering an area of over 40 acres, with a construction area of 10,670 square meters. Huaibei Museum is an architectural work that cleverly combines coal culture with the culture of the Grand Canal of the Sui and Tang Dynasties. The museum was designed under the leadership of Professor Qi Kang, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and an architectural expert from Southeast University, symbolizing Huaibei, a coal city, as a ship braving the waves and forging ahead in the history and the long river. More than 70% of the museum's collections are cultural relics excavated from the Grand Canal of the Sui and Tang Dynasties, which is why Huaibei Museum is also known as the 'Grand Canal Museum of the Sui and Tang Dynasties'.
