Travel Notes of Chi Lin Nunnery

A ten-minute walk from Hollywood Plaza in Diamond Hill will take you to Chi Lin Nunnery, a garden-style retreat from the Tang Dynasty. Admission to Nan Lian Garden and Chi Lin Nunnery is completely free. We first visited the mountain gate and worshipped Buddha in the Heavenly King Hall. There were lotus ponds inside and outside the hall. The lotus flowers of all sizes were very beautiful. The sound of monks chanting Buddha's name made us feel as if we had entered another realm. Afterwards, we went to Longmen Tower-Chi Lin Vegetarian Restaurant, which is hidden under the waterfall in the woods of Nan Lian Garden, for lunch. Listening to the sound of the waterfall outside the window, eating delicious vegetarian dishes, and sipping green tea, I suddenly feel all my worries disappear. After dinner, we visited the China Wood Structure Architecture Art Museum. There are many wooden-structured ancient temple models on display, including the Hall of Supreme Harmony in the Forbidden City in Beijing, the Nanchan Temple in Shanxi, and the Great Hall of Chi Lin Nunnery. These models are very much in the style of ancient Chinese architecture, which are really eye-opening.
