Walking through the elegant pavilions, stone paths, and lotus ponds, it’s hard to believe this peaceful oasis was once the most crowded spot on earth. What struck me most was the way the park preserves traces of the past. Sections of the original South Gate and remnants of the old walls stand as quiet witnesses to the city’s turbulent history. The exhibition rooms share stories and photos that reveal what life was like inside the walled city, adding a layer of depth to the visit. It’s both sobering and fascinating, a reminder of how quickly places can change. Yet beyond its history, the park is simply beautiful to experience.
