📝 Falling, Laughing, Flying: My Wakeboarding Wipeouts in Tai Tam

#hkwatersports Wakeboarding has always looked thrilling — like surfing with turbo boost — so I booked a session in Tai Tam, ready to ride the waves… or so I thought. Let’s just say, I spent more time in the water than on it, but it was one of the most fun days ever! 😆🌊 ⸻ 📍 Getting There • Took the MTR to Admiralty Station • From Exit A, boarded Bus 14 to Tai Tam Reservoir North • Walked about 10 minutes to the wakeboarding pier ⏱️ Travel time: ~45 minutes from Central 💰 Transport cost: ~HK$15–20 ⸻ 💸 Price & Booking I booked with a local wakeboarding club. 💰 Price: HK$1,500/hour on weekdays, HK$1,800/hour on weekends (includes boat, coach, and gear) • If you split with friends, it’s much cheaper per person • Wetsuit rental optional (~HK$50) ⸻ 🌊 The Experience Minute 1: Coach gives me quick tips — “Keep your arms straight, knees bent, and let the boat pull you up.” Easy enough, right? Minute 2: Face-plant into the water. 😂 Minute 5: Another fall, but this time I lasted 4 seconds upright! Minute 15: Finally, I found my balance and glided over the water. The speed, spray, and rush were unreal. By the second half of the session, I even attempted a mini jump off the boat’s wake (landing was… not graceful). Every fall was followed by laughter from the boat — mine included. ⸻ ⚠️ Tips for First-Timers • Go with friends — sharing the boat makes it more affordable and more fun • Bring towel, sunscreen, and lots of water • Don’t tense up — staying loose helps you balance • Morning sessions often have calmer water ⸻ ⭐ Final Thoughts Wakeboarding in Tai Tam was a mix of adrenaline, comedy, and pure joy. Yes, I fell (a lot), but every small improvement felt like a victory. If you’re looking for a high-energy, laugh-filled day, grab a few friends and hit the waves — you’ll leave with sore arms and great memories. 💪🌊😂
