Hong Kong Dragon's Back Hiking Trail｜A Classic Easy and Scenic Outdoor Choice!

Last weekend, I finally carried out a hiking plan I had wanted to do for a long time — hiking the Dragon's Back on Hong Kong Island! Honestly, I didn’t realize how amazing it was until after the hike. I highly recommend it 💯. The difficulty is moderate, the scenery is stunning, and it’s perfect for taking photos! ⸻ 🚶‍♀️ How did we hike? We chose the most popular route: "Start at Shek O Road — End at Big Wave Bay": 📍 Starting point: Shek O Road (take the bus and get off at "To Tei Wan") 🏁 Ending point: Big Wave Bay Beach (you can swim or relax at a café after the hike) The whole route takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, not too tiring. There are some stairs going uphill at the beginning, but after that, it’s an open ridge trail with breathtaking views that make you forget the effort! ⸻ 📸 Best photo spots ✅ Dragon’s Back Viewing Platform (once you reach the high point, you get a stunning view of Shek O Bay) ✅ Endless grassy ridge slopes (bathed in sunlight, super Instagrammable) ✅ Big Wave Bay surfing beach (watch surfers while sipping coconut water, very vacation vibes) ⸻ 🎒 Hiking tips (from my personal experience) • Wear sneakers or hiking shoes for sure, the rocky downhill path can be slippery • Bring enough water! No supplies along the way, ideally 1L per person • Bring a hat and sunscreen ☀️, there’s little shade on the Dragon’s Back, you’ll get really sunburned • Avoid hiking during the midday sun, recommended to start around 8–9 AM • There are toilets and snack stalls at Big Wave Bay for resting before leaving ⸻ 🍴 What to eat?
