Crazy for Seafood!

Last week during the holiday, I went for a buffet again! Since the theme of this buffet was seafood and fish maw, I had to invite my friends and my wife to enjoy it together. First, let's take a look at the healthy options! For example, the colorful salad bar, which was super fresh. If you love salads, don't hold back. Next was the Japanese section, featuring fried chicken, takoyaki, tamagoyaki, and sushi. These dishes are sure to be a hit with kids. As a grown-up, I was thrilled to see unlimited salmon roe—it made me just as happy as a kid. The sashimi selection this time was extensive, including octopus, herring, salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The salmon looked particularly fatty and delicious—I couldn't wait to try it. Moving on to the seafood theme, the chilled seafood section offered sea snails, bread crabs, prawns, mussels, slipper lobsters, clams, flower crabs, and abalone. Seafood lovers would definitely find something to their liking. If you prefer hot seafood, there were options like steamed lobster and scallops with garlic vermicelli. There was also a wide variety of Chinese-style hot seafood dishes! My favorites were the glutinous rice steamed crab and typhoon shelter-style fried prawns. Other options included braised rice, dim sum, and traditional Chinese soups, all of which were great choices. For those who enjoy roasted meats, I highly recommend trying the offerings here. My wife loved the soy sauce chicken, while I preferred the char siu. The Western food section was equally impressive. The first thing I had to try was the roasted beef ribs! Watching the chef carve the tender, pink meat made my mouth water. Other Western dishes included German sausages, roasted vegetables, cauliflower cream soup, roasted lamb leg, and Italian ravioli. The seafood tank featured fresh lobsters and prawns. At the noodle station, in addition to pork and chicken broth, there was fish maw and crab meat noodles—make sure to save room for a bowl. There were plenty of other amazing dishes, like stir-fried kale with three kinds of seafood, winter melon soup with seafood, pickled fish, drunken prawns in Maotai, Thai-style tom yum snails, and freshly fried tempura. You could sample cuisines from all over the world—it was incredibly diverse. Then came the highlight for the ladies: fish maw! You could enjoy unlimited servings of braised fish maw in abalone sauce. Everyone, young and old, could replenish their collagen together. Finally, there were halal options, including a variety of appetizers and salads, lentil soup, wraps, pan-fried chicken, and beef skewers. But the most enticing dish for me was the Arabian lamb rice. The dessert section was also impressive! This time, there were diced fruits, which made fruit lovers like us jump for joy. There were six flavors of Italian gelato: pomelo, cherry blossom red bean, black sesame, roasted tea, green tea, and milk strawberry. I'll tell you later which one was my favorite. Other desserts included unique cakes, chocolates, macarons, and agar jelly. The beverage station was very thoughtful, offering a variety of house-made specialty drinks. My favorite was the mixed fruit punch. The mixed fruit punch was tangy and sweet with a strong fruity aroma, while my wife's lemon drink was perfectly sour, just to her taste. The sashimi was all incredibly fresh! The salmon was tender, and the yellowtail had a rich, oily flavor—absolutely delicious. In the chilled seafood section, my wife's favorite was the slipper lobster! I even paired it with salmon roe for her, and she smiled happily while eating it. As for me, I loved the chilled abalone—it was smooth, tender, and flavorful, and I ate quite a few. At this point, I had to grab a plate of braised fish maw in abalone sauce to savor. Each serving came with plenty of fish maw, mushrooms, and lettuce, and there was no need to wait in long lines. At around seven o'clock, they served double-boiled soup. When you heard the bell, you could line up to get it. This time, the soup was fish maw with five-fingered peach and had a fragrant coconut aroma—it was sweet and nourishing. After the soup, I enjoyed hot seafood! The steamed Boston lobster was incredibly fresh, and the scallops with garlic vermicelli were flavorful—both were so good I had to go back for seconds. Next, I shared a big plate of hot dishes with my wife! The prawns were as big as my fist and incredibly aromatic. The shrimp meat was firm and bouncy—absolutely top-notch. We ordered a bottle of red wine to enjoy with friends. At this point, beef was the perfect pairing. The roasted beef ribs were tender and flavorful, but the ribs with both meat and tendon were even more appealing. Finally, I had a bowl of fish maw and crab meat noodles, which was packed with ingredients and left me completely satisfied. After the meal, I had a plate of fresh fruit. Someone had already diced it, making it super convenient to eat—haha. My friend made a stunning plate of Italian gelato with all the flavors! After trying a bite of each, I chose two favorites and scooped two more balls to enjoy. My wife's favorite was roasted tea, while I loved the black sesame flavor. The gelato was rich, aromatic, and smooth—absolutely delicious. The almond tea was incredibly rich in almond flavor and even contained fish maw, making it nourishing and satisfying. I finished off with some hidden gems: waffles and egg tarts from Tai Cheong Bakery. I was so full I could barely move!
