This year marks its 15th anniversary. Starting as a takeaway business in East Plaza, it moved to Shing Yip Industrial Building six years ago to open a cafe. It still attracts a loyal group of diners, thanks not only to its relaxed atmosphere and the friendly, charming owner❤️🔥 but also to its affordable and diverse Western cuisine. Bubble Tree is located on the 2nd floor of an industrial building🫧. The space isn’t large but is simply and comfortably decorated, with many handmade designs on the walls, giving it a warm neighborhood cafe vibe. The seating is moderate, not cramped, making it perfect for dining with friends or chilling with a cup of coffee☕️. ✝️ Japanese Hida Beef Hamburger with Soft Egg on Iron Plate Rice $89 Just seeing the words “Hida Beef” got me excited😍, and it did not disappoint when it arrived😎. The iron plate rice smells amazing, the beef hamburger patty is perfectly pan-fried with a slightly crispy exterior while keeping the juices inside💦. The meat is tender and rich in flavor. The soft egg is one of the highlights—smooth and visually appealing, covering the entire rice. Together with cheese🫕, corn, and grilled sauce, it’s quite flavorful, though the sauce is a bit too strong in taste🤏. ✝️ Crab Roe, Asparagus, and Smoked Salmon Pasta with Garlic Olive Oil $65 The smoked salmon is topped with plenty of crab roe. Combined with asparagus, garlic, and pasta, plus the aroma of olive oil, the flavors are rich and layered. The ingredients are well balanced and not too heavy👍. Order a soup with your main dish—choose between basil tomato soup or mildly ginger pumpkin soup. The former is moderately sweet and sour, with a fresh tomato puree taste🍅, and basil adds an extra layer, making it especially appetizing. The latter has the sweet aroma of pumpkin🎃, with ginger flavor that’s not overpowering🫚, just right to enhance the richness and warm your stomach perfectly. Additionally, I added a squid ink bun toast ($12) and homemade tiramisu dessert ($32). The squid ink bun toast is crispy enough and airy in texture, making it a perfect match with the soup. The tiramisu is delicate, generously made with a light hint of alcohol, moist and fine, never too sweet, definitely up to the standard of a high-quality Western restaurant🤓. I also upgraded to a large hot latte ($17) and a small cappuccino ($14)☕️. The milk-to-coffee ratio is good, with excellent bean aroma, plus beautiful latte art. If you like coffee, this place is definitely worth trying😝. Bubble Tree has proven itself over 15 years as a high-quality, affordable choice for Western food in Kwun Tong.
