Celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival by exploring the sandbar connecting Sunny Bay and Cheung Sok Island.

During the Dragon Boat Festival, it's a tradition to visit the seaside and soak in the festive atmosphere. Sunny Bay, located in the northern part of Lantau Island, has become a popular spot for photography enthusiasts thanks to its rocky beach, connecting sandbar, and the iconic wooden pillars in the water at Yam O. From the MTR Sunny Bay Station, head towards the seaside and walk along the breakwater to find the wooden pillars of Sunny Bay right in front of you. After snapping some photos, continue along the coastline to reach the beach and pier at Luk Keng Village. The village offers small shops selling various snacks and drinks. If you keep walking towards Cheung Sok Island, you'll come across a sandbar that connects Sunny Bay and Luk Keng Bay. During low tide, most of the sandbar is exposed, but during high tide, it gets submerged, requiring visitors to wade through the water—a truly fascinating experience.
