I almost missed the Tin Hau Temple in Yau Ma Tei

Initially, I didn’t find any photos online that caught my attention, but I’m so glad I decided to visit in the end—it was definitely the right choice. I was a bit hesitant at first, thinking it might just be a small and unimpressive place, but it turned out to be quite the opposite 🎀 When I was taking photos, the temple staff mentioned that filming wasn’t allowed here. I don’t quite understand the difference between taking photos and filming, but since I was in a temple, I didn’t dare to set up a tripod. So, all my photos are close-ups, and honestly, I was really worried about being scolded XDDDD It was pouring rain when I arrived, and the contrast between the warm yellow light inside the temple and the blue sky outside created a striking visual effect, enriching all the color details. It felt like a natural filter without needing any edits. I avoided taking photos of the statues out of respect for the incense offerings. Critique: The statue of Mazu was a bit off-putting, to be honest. I couldn’t help but wonder if Mazu herself would approve of how her statue looks 😂 There’s also a super tiny bronze guillotine here—honestly, I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be a dog or a tiger 😂 Lastly, the scent of Byredo’s Ashes perfume is exactly like the smell inside Tin Hau Temple. I really wish I could have that fragrance ❤️ Transportation: It’s close to the Yau Ma Tei MTR station. After visiting here, you can also head to Temple Street nearby 👣
