Hong Kong’s Hidden Wetlands: Our Nam Sang Wai Cycling Trip

#favouriteitinerary #travelanywhere On our trip to Hong Kong, my friend and I decided to explore Nam Sang Wai, a hidden gem known for its scenic wetlands, tranquil riverside views, and picturesque landscapes. Cycling was the perfect way to take in the beauty of the area at a leisurely pace. Getting Started We took the MTR to Yuen Long Station, the nearest access point to Nam Sang Wai. From there, it was just a short walk to a nearby bicycle rental shop. The shop clerk was friendly and even provided a quick rundown of the route—perfect for anyone unfamiliar with the area. Cycling Through Nam Sang Wai We kicked off our ride towards Ho Chau Road, passing a park before reaching the riverside path. The route took us through lush greenery, fishponds, and wetlands, with occasional glimpses of migratory birds and calm waters reflecting the sky. It’s no wonder Nam Sang Wai is a favorite spot for nature lovers and even wedding photoshoots—the landscapes felt almost surreal! The Unique Rowboat Crossing One of the most interesting parts of the ride was reaching Nam Sang Wai Ferry Pier, where we had to push our bikes onto a small rowboat to cross the river. The ferry ride was barely three minutes, but we held on tightly to our bikes as the gentle rocking of the boat added a fun thrill to the journey. It was a unique experience that made the cycling trip even more memorable. Ending the Journey After crossing the river, we continued cycling towards Yuen Long Kau Hui Road, where we returned our bikes. The entire cycling route took us about **two hours at a leisurely pace**, but with all the photo stops we made, it could have been done much faster. Final Thoughts Cycling through Nam Sang Wai was a refreshing escape from the city's hustle and bustle. The mix of **nature, wetlands, and the iconic rowboat ride** made it a one-of-a-kind experience. Whether you're a casual cyclist or just looking for a scenic outdoor adventure, this route is definitely worth exploring! 🚴♂️ #travel #chinatrip #naturalwonders #thingstodo #myitinerary
