Birthday dinner at Central Market

The spacious ground-floor restaurant houses a main dining area, bar and pastry station, meaning that you can expect a wide assortment of main dishes, desserts and drinks perfect for anytime of the day 🌅🌠 [𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐒𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫] Suitable for sharing between 2-3 people, this platter lets you taste all the 8 different tapas available on the menu. Our fave was the hamachi tartare on top of refreshing gin-infused watermelon and the deep-fried popcorn shrimp with garlic chilli sauce 🍉🦐 Other tapas include: french fries, daikon flower radish roll, fried salmon cakes, typhoon shelter style stir fried fish and chips with hot spices, ox tongue with tomato salsa and kung pao beef tenderloin with sichuan pepper [𝐂𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐝] The lettuce was evenly coated with classic caesar dressing and cheese flakes while there was a piece of garlic bread on the side instead of the usual crunchy croutons. BUT I must say that this Tai O twist with crispy dried salted fish might not be for everyone…😅 [𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢] The shrimp paste sauce was a little too spicy for me so I didn’t get to give this dish a good try…😔 I was still impressed that the portion and variety of seafood toppings was much more than expected with mussels, shrimp, squid and scallop though! [𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐞𝐫] We picked the classic napoleon from the pastry station run by @ninapatisseriehk, which had a light creamy custard filling and flaky outer layer. Their palmiers were equally impressive with a glossy caramelised coating - no wonder it’s their best-selling product! 😍 [𝐂𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐬] We got to try out the limited-edition cocktails from the @hendricksginhongkong pop-up, which were both pleasing to the eye and taste buds.
