Annual Beer Festival

October marks the time for the Beer Festival, and this year, as always, the Gold Coast Hotel is hosting a series of related events from Thursday to Sunday, ensuring everyone has a great time. With plenty of games and food, I definitely won't miss out. Over the weekend, I, along with a few friends, ventured to Tuen Mun for a delightful feast. There are several game booths, such as ring toss and ball toss, but the most popular is the instant photo booth, perfect for families. For those who can drink quickly, there's a beer drinking contest, but be sure to know your limits to avoid any mishaps. Even if you don't participate in the drinking contest, the Beer Festival is all about enjoying a glass of beer. For $168, you can enjoy unlimited refills of four types of beer within two hours, which is quite a deal. Personally, I prefer Hoegaarden. Of course, there are plenty of snacks to go with the beer. The appetizer platter includes various cold cuts, salami, cheeses, apricots, and grapes, making it perfect for pairing with drinks. A Beer Festival wouldn't be complete without a German sausage platter and pork knuckle. The different types of sausages are delicious, and the German pretzel is a classic treat I enjoy once a year. The crispy and tender German pork knuckle is just right for me. If it's too greasy, some sauerkraut will balance it out. The chicken wings are large and flavorful, with the sauce being the highlight. Dip them in, and they're simply delicious! As a former dessert lover, I must have some sweets. The apple strudel is crispy, with a slightly tart and sweet taste, though the cinnamon flavor is quite strong. The Black Forest cake is a familiar taste for me, as I attended a workshop last year where I learned to make this very cake. The German cheesecake is rich in cheese flavor and, in my opinion, rivals the Black Forest cake. The annual Beer Festival is something you should participate in; it's definitely better than heading north every weekend!
