Affordable Singaporean cuisine in Tai Kok Tsui: Affordable large pork chop

Fei Fei once recommended this affordable Taiwanese restaurant in Tai Kok Tsui. The signature thick-cut pork chop is what I remember most fondly. 👦🏻 I'd sometimes sneak in a bite alone. The restaurant closed for renovations a while ago, so I'll give it a try after it reopens. ▫️Signature Thick-Cut Pork Chop Laksa $78 The signature dish remains thick and generously cut, each pork chop covered in fat and fat. The pork chop is lightly battered, giving it a crispy texture. The meat is tender, but lacks juiciness. The laksa is quite rich, and even though 👧🏽 was sick that day and had a poor palate, I could still taste it. It wasn't as thick as I'd expected, but thankfully the two noodle bases were quite juicy. ▪️Bak Kut Teh (Pepper Flavor) $88 This isn't traditional herbal bak kut teh! It's like clear broth with pepper, lacking in flavor. The pork ribs were tender but not overly seasoned. They came with chili black soy sauce, rapeseed oil, rice, and a few fried dough sticks. ▫️Kaya Toast $30 The toast was crispy and had a subtle coconut aroma, but overall, the kaya sauce and butter were quite skimpy, and the photo and the actual dish differed significantly. ▪️ Three-Color Milk Tea $8 The set meal came with black Mala palm sugar, white black and white flower milk, and brown sirloin black tea. The sweetness was quite strong, overpowering the milk and tea flavors. ▫️Bentong Ginger Milk Tea $8 The ginger and milk flavors were strong, but the tea flavor was lacking. This visit was definitely a step down from my previous one. I was disappointed with both the signature pork chop and other dishes.
