Mongkok

Mong Kok is a buzzing maze of narrow streets, known for shopping. Stalls with clothes and knick-knacks cram the vast Ladies’ Market, plants and colorful blooms fill the Flower Market, while Fa Yuen Street is full of sneaker and sports stores. Nearby, the Temple Street Night Market is a mix of curios, fortune tellers and food stands. Foodies explore the area's street food stalls, tea houses and casual eateries. ― Mong Kok is one of the major shopping areas in Hong Kong. The area is characterised by a mixture of old and new multi-story buildings, with shops and restaurants at street level, and commercial or residential units above. Major industries in Mong Kok are retail, restaurants (including fast food) and entertainment. It has been described[1] and portrayed in films as an area in which triads run bars, nightclubs, and massage parlors. The heart of the present-day Mong Kok is along Argyle Street near Sai Yeung Choi Street whilst the proper Mong Kok used to be[when?] to the north, near the present-day Mong Kok East station. Mong Kok was an area of cultivated lands, bounded to the south by Argyle Street, to the west by Coronation Road (a section of present-day Nathan Road), and to the east by hills. To the southeast of Mong Kok is Ho Man Tin and to the west Tai Kok Tsui. #staycation #tigeryear2022 #nationalpark #urbanexplorer #streetfood #hongkong

Monster Building

Explore the Urban Jungle at Monster Building 🏙️🦖 Step into Hong Kong’s most iconic “living maze”—Monster Building. 📸 This residential complex is famed for its dramatic, stacked architecture, loved by photographers and film crews seeking gritty city vibes. The vibe here is ultra-local, with daily life playing out above and around you. Start your adventure right after hopping off the Quarry Bay MTR—Monster Building is just steps away! Wander through the open-air courtyard for the classic upward shot of towering flats (top insta-angle: stand in the center and look straight up for max impact). The best light hits around late afternoon, but early mornings offer fewer crowds for those pure, geometric shots. Must-do: Snap the classic “canyon” shot, then soak in the hum of local life as you grab a quick snack from the ground-floor shops. Resist the urge to shout or play music; you’re in a real residential zone. There’s zero signage, so use Google Maps to navigate and tread lightly—smile, greet residents with a nod, and give priority to locals. Venture quietly, avoid blocking walkways, and respect privacy (no directly aiming your camera at apartment windows). Practical tips: No entrance fee, open year-round, but public restrooms are limited—plan accordingly. Stay alert for moderate crowds, and keep noise to a minimum so residents remain happy to share this iconic spot. #HongKong #Cityscape #TravelTips #MonsterBuilding #UrbanExplorer
