Last year, for health reasons, I only dared to eat one durian in the whole year, but my love for durian is unstoppable!! This year, I have eaten 8 durians in just two months (although I always share with friends, but we eat more than 6 on average every time!). In the hot summer, it is the durian season again, and even afternoon tea is a must~ For example, the "Durian Mango Afternoon Tea Festival" launched by Middle Row Bar of Kowloon Hotel from July to August. First of all, the size of the 10 delicacies is quite shocking, each one is quite big! And the combination is different from the three-tiered racks of all-Chinese or all-Western, but a combination of Chinese and Western~ In terms of Chinese delicacies, the most eye-catching one must be Long Yixuan Fish Roe Shaomai, which is big and chewy! Eat it while it's hot! Also served hot is the wasabi, pepper, sea salt and butter baked scallops, which are thick and plump. The seafood cheese spring rolls are quite special, the cheese is still soft, if you eat it while it's hot, it will be molten in a minute. The filling is quite chewy, probably made of shrimp paste and cuttlefish paste. The other one is the Durian Caramel Custard, the caramel layer is crispy, and the caramel layer and durian paste are super smooth when you scoop it up with a spoon. In summer, eating something sweet and sour is especially appetizing. The homemade Napoleon puff pastry of Kowloon Hotel was a bit mushy, but it was still crispy even after taking pictures for a while. Unexpectedly, durian and salted egg yolk can be combined~ The hotel's homemade durian salted egg waffles have a good balance of the two ingredients, not abrupt at all. Biting down also revealed a little bit of durian meat, so good~ Finally, there is the afternoon tea essential English muffins with English cream and jam. Drinks include illy coffee, Twinings tea series or Chinese tea. My friend ordered a sky blue cup for HK$48, which is butterfly pea lemongrass tea. The lemongrass flavor is moderate and I personally think it helps relieve greasiness. I ordered a sparkling wine for HK$58. Afternoon tea is served from 3pm to 5pm daily. Purchase at the eshop to enjoy the best price (minimum 2 people), as low as HK$270 per person on weekdays and HK$318 per person on weekends.
