Enjoy a relaxing reading time with Miu Miu at Tai Kwun

The hot summer is the best season to calm down and enjoy reading time. This past weekend (July 8 June), Miu Miu launched its Summer Reads special project in selected cities around the world, distributing Alba de Céspedes’ Forbidden Notebook, Sibilla Aleramo’s A Woman and Jane Austen’s Persuasion to readers. Miu Miu transformed the playground of the Oden Prison into a newsstand and gave away two of the above classics: Sibilla Aleramo's A Woman and Jane Austen's Persuasion. Although the backgrounds of these two books are very different from the same era, they both explore the themes of women's pursuit of self and independence, echoing the journey of women fighting for their rights in different eras. Of the two books, I chose A Woman by Sibilla Aleramo. As a semi-autobiographical novel, the book tells the story of an Italian woman in her quest for freedom and self-identity. This work echoes the social trend of women fighting for their rights in the early 20th century, while expressing the idea that women should have autonomy and pursue the realization of personal value. In addition to books, three different flavors of ice cream are also distributed at the same venue. Unfortunately, though, it was all handed out by the time it was my turn! This Summer Read project is undoubtedly a rare cultural experience. It is indeed a good way to spend a leisurely weekend reading quietly under the old trees of Otaku while reflecting on the revelation of the work on the modern women's rights movement! #Register for June Hotel Sleep Tester #Old Hall
