"Oil Street Realization": Artistic starting point, inspiring creativity

Location: Oil Street, North Point Oil Street Art is an art space located in North Point, Hong Kong, and is very popular among the citizens. Its name is a homophone of its address, No. 12 Oil Street, symbolizing that this is a starting point for creativity and art. This space integrates art into daily life through different experiences and provides a platform for artists to realize their dreams. The English name of Oil Street is "Oi!", which is not only a call to action, but also associated with "Oil" and the place name "Oil Street". Part of this place is a Grade II historic building, built in 1908 and once served as a yacht club. After reclamation at North Point in the 1930s, it was converted into a staff quarters for the Government Supplies Department and later became an archaeological storage warehouse of the Antiquities and Monuments Office. In 2013, after revitalization and restoration, this red brick and tile-roofed building was renamed "Oil Street Realization" and opened as a public art space. Oil Street connects communities through art, building a sustainable future through social creativity and co-planning. Its project media include design, architecture, contemporary art and other creative forms.
