The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong offers a stunning view

The Grand Hyatt Hong Kong is a waterfront property that opened in November 1989 and was renovated in 2018, with the exterior still bearing the marks of time. Upon arrival, multiple doormen awaited at the lobby entrance and proactively took over the luggage. The front desk had several counters, and staff were available to assist with a swift check-in process, embodying the efficiency that Hong Kong is known for. The hotel lobby spans three floors, supported by massive marble columns, and is adorned with exquisite decorations and fresh floral arrangements. There is a fountain on each side, creating a waterscape that almost feels like being on a large cruise ship, reminiscent of the scene where Jack waits for Rose by the grand staircase. Following the winding staircase to the second floor leads to the Tea Garden restaurant, which offers a broad view, making it a great choice for afternoon tea during the afternoon hours. This level also has a hotel exit that leads to the Wan Chai or Convention and Exhibition Centre MTR stations, with a covered walkway providing shade and shelter from the rain. During my stay, it coincided with the Dragon Boat Festival, and the downpour was relentless. As someone who prefers not to have their makeup ruined by raindrops the moment I step outside, the convenience of the hotel's location was more than just a little appreciated. When I was going up to my room, I inadvertently followed other guests to the 11th floor, which happens to be the hotel's outdoor area, so I took my time to explore before heading to my room. It's evident that the hotel has put thought into its outdoor spaces, with plenty of greenery adding to the vacation vibe and lifting one's spirits. Passing through the green path, there's an outdoor bar and a heated swimming pool, which looks irregular but is actually a standard 50-meter pool. Surrounded by lush trees and towering buildings, the pool has unique operating hours, opening at sunrise and closing at sunset each day. There is also a 24-hour indoor gym on the same floor. The hotel has a total of 542 luxurious rooms and suites, located from the 12th to the 36th floor, with executive rooms requiring a transfer to a separate elevator on the 30th floor. I had never stayed in a waterfront hotel in Hong Kong before, so this time I specifically booked a deluxe sea view twin room and requested a high floor in advance. While checking in at the front desk, I quietly inquired with the receptionist if the room was on a high floor, and indeed, as the saying goes, 'Ask and you shall receive,' I was successfully checked into the 28th floor. All room types in the hotel start from 40 square meters, which is quite generous in land-scarce Hong Kong. After the renovation by BAR Studio, entering the room, one can feel a clear sense of space, with a clean and crisp overall design, and decorations that are just right, neither too extravagant nor too plain. The twin beds are large enough to be joined together, making it stress-free for a family of two adults and two children. Near the window, there is a solid wood dining table and a sofa lounge chair, allowing for easy enjoyment of the beautiful view of Victoria Harbour while dining or relaxing. The room thoughtfully includes two separate hidden floor-to-ceiling wardrobes, so there's no worry about where to hang beautiful dresses. A welcome card and fruit were already delivered to the room before check-in, and opening the mini-bar cabinet revealed three layers of a rich selection of items. It was only when I saw the room's adapter plugs that I remembered the plug standards in Hong Kong are different, but fortunately, the hotel had thought of that for me. The bathroom and bathing area are designed as two separate spaces, avoiding any awkwardness when used simultaneously. The floral-shaped lights on the bathroom mirror make the space feel more spacious and bright, and the open bathtub allows for watching TV programs and the night view of Victoria Harbour while bathing. You can also lower the electric roller blinds, completely separating the bathroom from the bedroom. The toiletries are from Balmain, with a set prepared in both the shower and by the bathtub, a must-take for any thrifty household manager. The high-floor view is as delightful as ever, with a panoramic view of both sides of the harbor, and the night view of Victoria Harbour, one of the 'three great nightscapes of the world,' is truly stunning.
