The most worthwhile place to visit in Hong Kong | Tsz Shan Monastery

This is a Buddhist monastery built by Mr. Li Ka-shing in Tai Po with an investment of 2.6 billion over more than ten years. It is a rather special place in Hong Kong, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, nestled against the mountains and surrounded by the sea, with a tranquil environment. Upon arriving, one can't help but relax. The most famous feature is the 76-meter-tall white Guanyin statue, cast in bronze alloy, which is the second tallest giant pure white Guanyin statue in the world. Even without entering the park, it can be seen from a distance. The most special aspect is that there are no incense offerings here, but instead, wooden bowls are used for water offerings in an environmentally friendly way to worship Buddha, which also has a strong sense of ritual. Inside, there is a Buddhist art museum. The first floor houses Buddhist statues and relics from various places (photography is allowed). Before entering, there is a short video about the origin of Buddhism that lasts about three minutes. The second floor contains consecrated treasures and a scripture repository (no photography is allowed, only worship). It is recommended to spend 2-3 hours visiting, and you can bring a bottle 🫙 as there is drinking water available. Vegetarian buns 🍞 are distributed at noon at 12 o'clock.
