Our daughter loves staying at hotels, and after staying at three different ones, she said the Explorer's Lodge was the best. So, we booked it again. After comparing all three, the Explorer's Lodge comes out on top. Firstly, the price is the cheapest at Hollywood, with Explorer's Lodge being slightly more expensive by a hundred or two, and the Disneyland Hotel being the most expensive; in terms of room size, Explorer's Lodge is the largest, Hollywood is the smallest; although Hollywood has been renovated, the renovation and facilities are still best at Explorer's Lodge, with Disneyland's being the oldest. The recreational activities at the three hotels are shared, and you can shuttle between them using the transfer bus. If you are into princesses, choose Disneyland, otherwise, Explorer's Lodge is the no-brainer choice. The hotel dining is average, and from our experience, it's best to buy some bread at the West Kowloon MTR station for breakfast. For lunch, the best option is to use the Disneyland three-in-one meal voucher, because not only is the hotel food expensive, but it also doesn't taste good. Hong Kong Disneyland is not very big, so it's entirely feasible to return to the hotel for a rest at noon, as Hong Kong is already quite hot now. From 1-4 pm, the park is at its hottest and most crowded, so it's a good idea to come back to the hotel for a rest after lunch and head back to the park after 4 pm, starting with the indoor attractions in Tomorrowland. The parades and castle performances are average, far inferior to other Disney parks, so it's not worth standing in the sun for them. Hong Kong Disneyland offers more opportunities for Belle fans to spend money, and it's much more friendly than other Disney parks. Most importantly, do not buy the 8-item FastPass for Hong Kong Disneyland. Apart from the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars, there's no need to queue for the other attractions. The new areas and attractions like the parachute drop are not included. So, get an Early Bird ticket, enter early, have lunch, rest at the hotel, and then head back to the park at 4 pm to avoid the sun and queues, which is very comfortable.
