| 40min climb to the top Feel the charm of wind and sea at Ngong Ping Prairie. Autumn has quietly arrived, and this cool weather is perfect for outdoor hiking. Since my last trip through the second section of the MacLehose Trail, I have come to feel that Sai Kung in Hong Kong is a great place and that the hiking facilities there are very complete. This time we came to one of the passing points on the fourth section of the MacLehose Trail - Ma On Shan Ngong Ping Camp, also known as Ngong Ping Grassland. It is a mountaintop grassland, backed by the Grand Admiralty Mountain and facing the Saigon Strait. . Here you can enjoy the sight of cattle and sheep, You can also try to fly in the blue sky. You can even bring your pets to run and play on the grassland. Or set up a tent and wait for sunrise and sunset🌅 . 💁HOW TO? ▶️Ma On Shan direction 1⃣After passing through Futian Port, take the MTR [University Station] Exit B, take [KMB 87K] at the bus stop on the right and get off at [Heng On Village] 2⃣ Navigate to [Ma'anshan Country Park BBQ Spot], about 3km of winding mountain road, walk about 40 minutes (if you don't want to walk, you can take a taxi) 3⃣ Continue walking and you will see the sign for [Ngongping Campground]. Continue walking for about 60 minutes to the top of the mountain 🌕Advantages: Cement road + step road, relatively easy 🌑Disadvantages: The route is a bit complicated, and some of it is a river tracing route ▶️To Dashuijing 1⃣After crossing the border at West Kowloon by high-speed rail, take the subway to [Diamond Hill] Exit C2, take double-decker bus [92] or [96R] from the left side of [Diamond Hill Bus Terminal] and get off at [Bo Lin Che] 2⃣ Navigate to [Ngongping Campground] and walk for about 60 minutes (20 minutes on the village road cement road + 40 minutes on the mountain stairs) 🌕Advantages: Cement road + steps, relatively easy, you will pass two villages before going up the mountain, you can experience the life in the countryside of Hong Kong up close 🌑Disadvantages: The steps are a bit high, and it hurts your knees when going down the mountain 🔛Direction selection: 🔵Most people choose to go up from Ma'anshan and then go down towards Dashuijing. 🔵Some people choose to go up and down the mountain at the same place, but we choose to go up and down the mountain from the direction of Dashuijing, which seems to save time and energy. ⚠️Tips: ✅It is best to go hiking with a companion and get off the mountain before dark to ensure safety ✅Prepare 2 bottles of water and some snacks, there are no convenience stores nearby ✅Choose a time when the weather is good, otherwise the difference is really big ✅People who are not afraid of heights can try paragliding on the top of the mountain (about 2300HKD/person) ✅You can bring your own tent ⛺️ for camping, and there is a toilet on the top of the mountain.
