Dining in Tsim Sha Tsui | Gonpachi Izakaya | Beautiful views of Victoria Harbour and high-quality Japanese cuisine

In early December, Wo Fu had dinner with a group of five friends. His friend suggested going to Gonpachi Izakaya at No. 1 Peking Road. The night view of Victoria Harbour is so beautiful. The interior is equally attractive. The scallion and salt beef tongue ($78 per skewer) is refreshing and chewy, not tough at all. The mushroom tempura platter ($128) looks good, the tempura batter is not thick and there is not much oil. I personally like to dip it in matcha salt. The grilled cheese ($58) was a pleasant surprise, with soft noodles. The snow crab meat and avocado roll ($188) has so much fish roe on it that it feels like it is overflowing. The amount of snow crab meat is also generous, and it is paired with cucumber and avocado, giving it a refreshing taste. The carefully selected A5 Wagyu Sirloin ($488) is a very high quality steak, cooked to a good degree, and very delicious. The different colours of sesame seeds on the minced chicken cartilage sticks (Miyazaki Egg) ($78) enhance the presentation and are even more delicious when dipped in egg sauce. The kimchi, tofu and pork hotpot ($258) is very filling, flavourful and spicy. For dessert, we ordered three desserts in total, including red bean pudding with vanilla ice cream ($68). The red bean pudding was smooth and fragrant, and it had more layers when paired with ice cream. The soft serve with sesame ice cream ($88) was well-made with just the right amount of lava, and the sesame ice cream was also of high quality. Everyone likes the Coconut Milk Pumpkin and White Eggplant ($78). The white eggplant is smoky and chewy, the coconut milk pumpkin is smooth and not too sweet, and the crispy almond slices give it a rich taste. #Gonpachi Izakaya Address: 28/F, One Peking Road, #Tsim Sha Tsui #eatingintsimshatsui #waffleandshrimpcakes #eatingwaffleandshrimpcakesintsimshatsui #eatingwaffleandshrimpcakesjapanesefood #tsimshatsuifood #hongkongfood #hongkongrestaurantexploration #gonpachi #japanesefood #japanesecuisine #wifeandhusband #blog #blogger #hkblogger #hkig #foodie #hkfoodie #hkfood #hkfoodblog #hkfoodblogger #tst #tsimshatsui
