Hong Kong Tai Kwun | The Warden's House with murals

The Warden's Building is one of the earliest buildings built in the Tai Kwun complex. It was built in 1862 and is designed in the style of a residential house. It was originally used as the main entrance to Victoria Prison and the warden's quarters. Later, the prison's entrance was converted into an indoor space and was also converted into a chapel. At the beginning of the church's revitalization, the team discovered murals here and restored them. The murals on the walls are covered with a pattern called a "flat-headed cross," a common symbol in Roman Catholic churches.
