Ngong Ping Tian Tan Buddha is one of the most famous Buddhist attractions in Hong Kong. It is located on the Ngong Ping Plateau, Lantau Island, close to Po Lin Monastery and Ngong Ping Market. Built in 1993, this bronze Buddha is 34 meters high and weighs 250 tons. It is one of the largest outdoor seated bronze Buddhas in the world. The Buddha shows the posture of Sakyamuni Buddha enlightening under the bodhi tree. If you want to see this spectacular Buddha with your own eyes You have two ways to get to Ngong Ping: 1️⃣Take the cable car: You can take the cable car from the Tung Chung Cable Car Station next to Exit B of the MTR Tung Chung Station to Ngong Ping. The floor of the crystal carriage is transparent, giving you the feeling of being in the air. 2️⃣By bus: You can take the New Lantau Bus Line 23 from the bus terminus near Tung Chung MTR Station to Ngong Ping. The journey takes about 45 minutes. This route will pass through many scenic spots on Lantau Island, such as Ngong Ping Reservoir, Pak Kung Au, Mui Wo, etc. After arriving at Ngong Ping, you need to climb 240 steps to reach the lotus seat of the Big Buddha.
