The only ancient tree with pink flowers in Hong Kong is located in Central.

The deciduous tree with fruiting branches has been regarded as a symbol of good luck in southern China for thousands of years, representing longevity and unyielding strength. Its unique feature lies in the fact that even after experiencing natural disasters such as wind, rain, frost, and snow, the deciduous tree with fruiting branches can still survive and thrive. The only remaining deciduous tree with fruiting branches in Hong Kong has been standing next to the old Hong Kong City Hall for nearly 50 years. Today, the building has been transformed into the Hong Kong Mandarin Oriental Hotel by the internationally renowned architectural and integrated design firm Foster + Partners. During the entire building renovation process, the deciduous tree with fruiting branches was carefully preserved. During the period from April to May each year, the ancient tree welcomes its flowering season, with light pink and white petals covering the branches, echoing the beautiful scenery of the adjacent Hong Kong Park. During the renovation of the building, the magnificent three-story high arches surrounding the bottom of the building were preserved and transformed into a semi-outdoor activity space called "The Arches". The semi-outdoor space is not affected by the weather, and from each huge arched "window", different scenery can be seen, including the open views of Hong Kong Park and St. John's Cathedral, as well as the bustling urban scenery of Central, all captured in the arched paintings. The top arches of The Arches are tall, spacious, and naturally ventilated. The gentle curved lines and the depth of field effect created by multiple arches make it one of the must-visit places for many couples to take photos.
