Tsim Sha Tsui's Best Spots | 6 Recommended British Retro Style Check-ins in Hong Kong

The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre has 6 recommended British retro-style check-in spots! Although Hong Kong is small in size, it has many unique and flavorful buildings. One of them is the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre located next to Kowloon Park. The pure white exterior of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is one of the most classic British-style buildings in Hong Kong. Not only is the exterior beautiful, but there are also many check-in spots inside that are very Instagrammable. The Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is located in Kowloon Park, formerly known as the S61 and S62 barracks on Waterloo Road. It is believed that the two barracks were built in the late 1890s. In 1967, the barracks were gradually handed over to the government for cultural and recreational use, and in 1970, they were developed into Kowloon Park. From 1983 to 1998, the two buildings were used as a temporary site for the Hong Kong Museum of History. In 2003, the buildings were handed over to the Antiquities and Monuments Office for restoration, and in 2005, they became the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, used for promoting cultural heritage and educational activities. Since October 2005, the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre has been open to the public, with main facilities including permanent exhibition halls, thematic exhibition halls, lecture halls, education activity rooms, and reference libraries. Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Check-in Spot | 1. Lattice Round Arch Window The empty circular arched window of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is located in the position of the first floor corridor. Looking outside, you can clearly see the beautiful scenery of green trees. Standing in front of the window and taking photos is quite unique. In addition to the first floor corridor, there are also several circular arched windows on the second floor of the Discovery Centre. Although they are not hollowed out in design, the atmosphere of taking photos next to the window is equally full. Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Check-in Spot | 2. Pure White Corridor The first floor corridor of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre is full of classical flavor, with pure white walls, wooden ceramic tile floors, and wooden chairs, complemented by old-fashioned small oil pendant lamps and dark green window grilles. Standing in the center of the corridor is like going back to the old days. Many people choose to take a backlit photo here, naturally exuding an elegant and retro atmosphere, instantly transforming into an atmosphere beauty! Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Check-in Spot | 3. Glass House Beside the main white building of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, there is a "glass house"! The "glass house" adopts a design of super large floor-to-ceiling glass windows to connect the two buildings. Under the sunlight, the environment is even more beautiful, making it a popular photo spot in the Discovery Centre! Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Check-in Spot | 4. Outdoor Tea House Next to the white main building, there is an outdoor tea house built under the shade of trees, with fresh air and vintage English-style umbrellas and tables and chairs, full of retro charm! Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Check-in Spot | 5. Outdoor Trail At the outdoor location of the main building, there is a small sloping trail with a pure white and soft color scheme that matches the style of the main building. Take a leisurely walk on the trail and take a photo, capturing the surrounding building walls and plants in the composition for a beautiful shot! Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre Check-in Spot | 6. Banyan Tree Outside the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre stands a large banyan tree that has been standing for many years. This banyan tree has lush branches and leaves, and is quite tall. Its growth form is also very beautiful, and it is very suitable for taking a break and taking photos under the shade of the tree.
