Anniversary Staycation-Mong Kok Night View

My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary in early August, and I'd booked a hotel staycation well in advance. I specifically chose the Cordis Hotel Hong Kong in Mong Kok, mainly because I loved its pool—it was large enough for a swim. However, plans never quite match up, and the weather was terrible! It rained for two days, and at its worst, it even rained red at night! So, swimming was out of the question. What a shame. [Room Type] The room I stayed in was a "Studio Room," which costs HK$1,550+10% per night. The room was indeed quite large, a full 430 square feet! The view was also quite expansive, with a view of most of Mong Kok. The bed was large and comfortable, and many guests loved the hotel's pillows, which you can buy in the souvenir shop on the lobby floor. The Cordis, formerly the Langham Place Hotel, opened in 2004. It's not actually very old and is well-maintained. But the interior decor is quite old-fashioned. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by a red-lacquered wooden wardrobe (?). Perhaps the conservative design of the time seems a bit dated now, almost 20 years later. There's no coffee maker in the room, but there's a microwave hidden inside the wardrobe! But food is generally available 24/7 in Mong Kok, so the microwave is probably for long-term residents. There's a USB port (but no plug) near the bed, as well as a Bluetooth speaker. The wardrobe is huge, and it even contains a yoga mat, a scale, a heater, an iron, and an ironing board. The bathroom is quite spacious! Bath lovers will be delighted by the tub (but no bath salts are provided). It does have some historical features, and the decor is a bit rustic even today, but overall, it's very clean. The designer was probably a man, right? The sink isn't quite as user-friendly as it seems. The bathroom supplies are all their own brand and surprisingly nice. [Gift] The hotel gave me a panda plush with a handwritten congratulatory note (the panda plush is also available in the souvenir section). I came back from afternoon tea and saw a fruit plate on the table. [Facilities] If you're traveling with children, each child gets a token to use in the children's play area. It looks like a lot of fun! Langham Place is right downstairs, the heart of Hong Kong's downtown core. Shopping and movies are just steps away, and there's everything you could want to buy or eat! I even joked with my boyfriend that if I forget something, it's okay; I can just go home and get it back in half an hour. [Service] A lot of people are concerned about check-in/out. I was worried about the long line, so I arrived at the hotel around 2 PM that day. To my surprise, there was no line at all! The photo was taken at check-out, and there was no line either, since I was checking in with a credit card and could use Express Check-out. I also want to give a shout-out to the front desk staff for being so polite, smiling, and helpful.
