The cathedral was built in the Gothic Revival style, and over the 68 years of construction it has remained true to the original design, including the stained glass windows, arcaded entrance, and impressive bell tower. The cathedral, the first in the province, is listed on the National Heritage List and has hosted many public ceremonies and events. The arcaded entrance has a large west window with fine beams on the gable, balanced by a supporting tower. Other features include a simple square tower built of Oatlands stone with battlemented parapets and quatrefoil tracery.
