The Shukkei-en Garden is a collection of Hiroshima's four seasons, with its picturesque red maple leaves

#MarchGoodPlaces2025 Hiroshima's famous scenic spot #ShockedEden is one of the 100 selected historical parks in Japan. The meaning of "ShockedEden" should be that the four seasons of Hiroshima are all condensed in this strolling pond garden. There are cherry blossoms in spring, fresh green in summer, and red leaves in autumn. When I visited, it happened to be the maple season. The small bridges and flowing water in the garden were dyed a deep red, which was quite charming. Shukkeien was built in 1620 by Asano Nagamori, the first lord of Hiroshima, but was completely destroyed when Hiroshima was bombed by an atomic bomb in 1945. It took many years of reconstruction to restore its original appearance. Shukkei-en is surrounded by high-rise buildings on all sides, giving it a sense of tranquility like an urban oasis in the concrete jungle, miniaturizing the Zen and poetic atmosphere of a Japanese garden. Next to it is the Hiroshima Prefectural Museum of Art and Hiroshima Castle Park, making it a great place to take a stroll along the way and appreciate the charming charm of Hiroshima. #HiroshimaTravel #Shookeien
