There is still a Kasumizakura tree planted by the Tsugaru samurai in Ninomaru, which is more than 295 years old. There is also a Somei Yoshino cherry tree planted in Ninomaru in 1882 by the samurai Kikuchi Tatee. It is 138 years old and is recognized as the oldest Somei Yoshino cherry tree in Japan. There are also more than 300 trees that are over 100 years old. It should be noted that the average lifespan of Somei Yoshino cherry trees is about 60 to 80 years. It can be seen why the cherry trees in the garden are so precious and can be seen year after year.
