1️⃣ Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall Address: No. 1, Iron Road Street, Nangan District, Harbin Bus Station South Plaza No. 3, Station Entrance Opening Hours: 9:00-11:30, 1:30-16:30 (Closed on Mondays) Admission: Free (Passport required) ☑️The entrance is on the immediate left side of the South Plaza of Harbin Station. (You can't see the entrance from the front of the plaza, so make sure to come to the left and look to the side!) ☑️This is a memorial hall that was remodeled from the waiting room in front of where Ahn Jung-geun shot Ito Hirobumi. ☑️The memorial hall contains the life story of Ahn Jung-geun, and there are explanations in Korean as well. ☑️One side of the wall of the memorial hall is made of glass, so you can see the platform where the assassination took place. The triangle on the left side of the floor is where Ahn Jung-geun was, and the square on the right side is where Ito was, marking the locations of the two when they were assassinated. The distance between them was much closer than I thought. ☑️There are also markings on the inside to help you gauge the distance between the two, so you can feel it a little more vividly. ☑️If you look slowly, there is a guestbook near the end, so it would be good to write a word or two. 2️⃣Unit 731 Address: No. 47, Xinjiang Street, Pingfang District (Located at the end of Subway Line 1) Opening hours: 9:00-17:00 (Closed on Mondays) Admission: Free Reservation: Required (You can make a reservation in advance via WeChat, or you can make a reservation by scanning the QR code on site, or I made a reservation on site) ☑️We visited early in the morning, but there was a long line in front. After looking around, the line was even longer than before. Even on a weekday, there were a lot of people, so I recommend visiting early in the morning. ☑️You can also rent a Korean guidebook for a deposit of 300 yuan. ☑️This is an exhibition hall based on the atrocities committed by Unit 731 during the Japanese military's rule of Manchuria. ☑️Japan conducted human experiments and developed biochemical weapons in this special unit, and gave the Chinese a very cruel history. This place, which records the atrocities of the Japanese in detail and exhibits evidence of the crimes, was a place where many terrible things happened that were too much to bear to look at with open eyes. ✔️ I felt that both places were similar in that they were related to the Japanese, and I realized once again that they are important pieces of history that should not be forgotten.
