St. Sophia Cathedral, Harbin

St. Sophia Church was built and completed of timber in March, 1907 as part of a plan to reconsolidate the confidence of the army by building an imposing spiritual symbol. The church is located on the corner of Toulong Street (Toulong jie) and Zhaolin Street. It stands at 175 ft tall, occupies an area of 721 square meters, and is the perfect example of Russian Revival architecture. These photos were taken last year during New Year's Day. It was a good place to celebrate the holiday and to welcome the new year. It was freezing though. Well, Harbin is a good place to feel the Winter and the snow. #tripmoments #tripinspired #tripaway #chinalife #chinatravel #orthodox #churches #harbin
