Flower God Festival

The Xixi Shili Fangfei 5th Flower God Festival, themed "Traditional Reproduction, Poetic Dwelling," will be held from March 14 (Flower God's birthday) to June 5, 2025. The festival blends Song Dynasty aesthetics with Eastern philosophy, featuring "Four Rituals" and "Twelve Floral Events" to create an immersive spring experience. Ritual Inheritance: The opening ceremony centers around "Flower God Offerings," including the Guanlan Ritual (hand and heart cleansing) and the Cidu Ritual (releasing animals for blessings). Twelve Flower God attendants in Hanfu will present gifts, and the chief officiant will lead incense burning and music playing, embodying the concept of "symbiosis." Four Seasons Elegance: Daily experiences are designed according to the twelve two-hour periods of the traditional Chinese clock—releasing koi in the morning to awaken compassion, tying name tags to trees at noon to connect with the earth, adorning white peonies in the afternoon to recreate Tang and Song Dynasty makeup, and floating thousands of bamboo lanterns with wishes in the evening. Nine floral events are offered, including a spring banquet (seasonal flower dishes), spring clothing making (indigo-dyed Hanfu), and spring art crafting (pottery rubbing). Through intangible cultural heritage crafts, poetry, tea ceremonies, and farming readings, the festival aims to reconnect urban dwellers with the natural rhythm of life and interpret the "slow living" philosophy of Chinese aesthetics.
