I recently returned from a trip to Tunisia, where I discovered a hidden gem that left me speechless: Hammamet. I can't believe more people don't know about it! So, I'm sharing this super detailed travel guide with you all 👇 Itinerary Day 1: Arrived in Hammamet in the morning, took a taxi from the airport to the hotel to check in, put my luggage away, and had a good sleep to get over the jet lag. In the afternoon, I took a local minibus to the Kasbah of Hammamet, which took about 20 minutes. I strolled leisurely through the old town, with its winding alleys and exotic buildings, it was a truly captivating experience. I recommend spending 3-4 hours exploring. When you get tired, you can always find a small shop to sit down and have a cup of mint tea. Day 2: Took a taxi to Hammamet Beach early in the morning, about a 15-minute ride. Spent the day enjoying the sun, sand, and sea. Swimming, surfing, or simply lying on a beach chair soaking up the sun are all great options. You can easily spend the whole day here. In the evening, I had a seafood feast at a restaurant near the beach, accompanied by the sea breeze, the atmosphere was perfect! Day 3: Chartered a car to the Crocodile Farm, which took about an hour. Here, you can observe crocodiles up close and learn a lot about them. Two hours is plenty of time to explore. In the afternoon, I returned to the city center for some free time, browsing the local markets and picking up some unique souvenirs. Highlights The architecture of the Kasbah of Hammamet is truly unique! The blue and white houses are scattered picturesquely, and stepping into any alley feels like entering a fairy tale. In the evening, sit on the beach and watch the sun slowly sink below the horizon, painting the sky in shades of orange and red. The shimmering sea surface is also gilded, creating a beauty that is beyond words. Food Recommendations I highly recommend Dar Essid Restaurant, located in the heart of the old town. Their couscous, a traditional Tunisian dish, is a must-try! The steamed semolina is served with tender lamb, chicken, and various vegetables, topped with a rich sauce. Each bite is bursting with North African flavors. Also, their mixed grill platter is amazing, with lamb and beef grilled to perfection, sizzling and juicy. Dipped in the local special sauce, it's incredibly delicious. Accommodation Experience I stayed at the Hammamet Yasmine Thalasso & Spa Hotel, which has a fantastic location, just a 5-minute walk from the beach. The hotel environment is beautiful, with lush greenery and a huge swimming pool. The rooms are spacious and bright, decorated in a local style, and the beds are incredibly comfortable, guaranteeing a restful night's sleep. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful, offering recommendations for interesting places to visit. It's excellent value for money! Things to Note There is no entrance fee for the Kasbah of Hammamet, but some smaller attractions may charge a fee, so it's a good idea to have some cash on hand. The weather in Tunisia is quite hot, so sun protection is essential. Sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses are a must. Also, remember to bargain when shopping at the markets. Don't be afraid to haggle, even cutting the price in half is not unreasonable.
