A captivating lakeside Village

#myhiddengems I happened to travel to Hallstatt during the peak season. That did mean a lot of tourists around. Luckily since it was an overnight stay. I did manage to use some early mornings and odd hours when it's still possible to find the place to yourself. Having said so, tourists or not. This place is one of those straight out of the postcard European destinations. It's a tranquil place (very quiet too during the early hours I spoke of). It feels cozy, traditional and exceedingly pretty in some parts. Now during my time here i managed to visit an interesting mix of places. Starting with the bone house, which contains over 1,000 skulls from former Hallstatt citizens over the years. The Hallstatt museum gave a nice peak into the history of the place and salt mines. Then i took the cable car to the view point. A further 15 minutes away were the world's oldest salt mines.
