The tower is an interactive museum, telling a story of the fort and providing a great view on the surroundings. Great if you're into history. Make the time to visit the tower is you are in Hakodate. This lovely little port is graced with a number of attractions. The tower provides a 360 degree eagle-eye view of the city, including the Goryokaku Park, a beautiful and unusually shaped piece of land originally built to be a fort. The day of our visit was apparently the busiest of the year but, despite the queues, it was a lovely day and the crowds added to the ambience. Definitely worth the visit.
