Hengdaohezi | A postcard town.

Hengdaohezi Town is a "Little Russia" built 100 years ago by the East Qing Railway (Middle East Railway). It was once known as the "Garden Town" and still has 256 Russian-style buildings built between 1901 and 1905. The town has a lot of snow in winter, which lasts for a long time, making it a century-old town with exotic charm. ➡️Itinerary: 🖼Oil Painting Village (Old Street) The yellow houses covered with snow look like fairy tale cottages from an oil painting. There are also very cute Russian dolls. 🕌Church of the Assumption Now it is the Middle East Railway Museum. The main body is a log structure, with a Greek cross-shaped plane and a pure Russian early architectural style. The retro blue-green color is really beautiful. 🛤Hengdaohezi Station A must-see place, a century-old station with exotic charm. Standing on the second-floor railing, you feel like you are traveling through time. 🗻Dongshan Slope You can overlook the whole village and watch the sunset from the Sui-Man Highway. If you don't have a drone, this angle is also good. 🚂Middle East Railway Locomotive Depot It consists of 15 garage doors in a row. The garage doors are arch-shaped, with brick walls and iron tiles. The architectural style is unique. It is the only relatively well-preserved fan-shaped steam locomotive depot in the world. 🕍Wang Luobin Memorial Hall It is the back of the locomotive depot. The architectural structure here is even more exquisite than the front. When the wind blows the snow on the roof in the sunlight, it is beautiful. 🚧Railway Crossing The thick snow on the ground and roof makes you feel like you are in Kamakura when the train passes by. You can take photos on both sides of the crossing. The train passes by from time to time, so you can ask the staff nearby. 📷Tips: The whole town is warm yellow. In addition to these check-in places, you can explore the corners of the alleys by yourself. You may find a surprising photo spot. You can spend a day or half a day here. It gets dark at 4 pm in winter, so try to finish taking photos early. 🚗Transportation: There are two train stations. Hengdaohezi East is a high-speed railway station, and Hengdaohezi Station is a green train station. Hailin North ➡️ Hengdaohezi (11 minutes) Mudanjiang ➡️ Hengdaohezi (about 20 minutes) Harbin ➡️ Hengdaohezi (about 1 hour and 30 minutes) You can also drive or charter a car. 🏬Accommodation: The accommodation in the town is hard to describe. I booked accommodation online in advance, but when I arrived, they said there was no room. It is recommended to stay in Mudanjiang or Harbin and return on the same day. It gets dark at 4 pm in winter. ⏱Opening hours: Church of the Assumption: 9 am to 4 pm, closed on Mondays. The rest are open. 🎫Tickets: All attractions are free. ✈️Drone: No restrictions.
