You should see a beautiful sunrise at an ocean view accommodation and have a memorable Gyeongju trip! A 40-minute drive or 1-hour bus ride from downtown Gyeongju is Gampo, a small coastal village. The deep blue sea unique to the East Sea is beautiful just by looking at it. The water is clear, so it's a good place for snorkeling, but be careful because there are many deep waters due to the characteristics of the East Sea. Gampo, where I often visited my grandmother's house when I was young, was a quiet and small fishing village. It's still a rural village with a teahouse, but now there are more stylish and pretty ocean view cafes. Also, instead of fishing village guesthouses, there are many ocean view pool villas and hotels. I visited Elafonisi, a pretty ocean view hotel near my grandmother's house that I really liked. All rooms are ocean view hotels, and the ocean is so close to the room that it feels like you're floating on the ocean, making it a great place to watch the sunrise on New Year's Day. 🏨 Elafonisi Hotel ✅️ Gyeongbuk Gyeongju-si Gampo-eup Daebon-ri 379 (Donghaean-ro 1596) ✅️ Check-in: 15:00 / Check-out: 11:00 (Mobile check-in / check-out available) ✅️ Features: Ocean view in all rooms, outdoor rooftop infinity pool, outdoor swimming pool, private pool, pets allowed, breakfast and dinner barbecue available In the afternoon when the sun is at its strongest, the dazzling ocean that embraces the sunlight and sparkles endlessly welcomes you, the Gyeongju Gampo Elafonisi Hotel was so lovely. I made a reservation without any expectations, thinking I'd arrive late in the afternoon and just sleep, but my expectations, which were low, turned into huge ones, to the point where I regretted going late. 🌊 Check-in This place, which recently underwent hotel expansion, is divided into Elafonisi Hotel and Elafonisi Pool Villa & Hotel. The day before your stay, you will receive a check-in message from Elafonisi Hotel. You can check in on your mobile phone, so I checked in in advance and received the password, but I stopped by the front desk because I had to pay the extra person fee. Oh my, what is this? When I went, there was an event period where up to 2 people could be added for free, so I was lucky. :) For reference, the extra person fee is 30,000 won for adults/children for the pool villa and 20,000 won for the hotel. Infants under 7 years old are 20,000 won and 10,000 won respectively. Also, Elafonisi allows dogs under 7kg (cats are not allowed). There is an additional fee of 30,000 won per pet. 🌊 Deluxe Twin (12.75 pyeong) - Standard 2 people / Maximum 4 people - 1 double bed + 1 single bed - One room + 1 bathroom + 1 shower room - Ocean view / Simple cooking possible (hot plate, microwave, electric pot, simple tableware, and disposable dishwashing sponge & detergent) The room was not large because it was a deluxe twin, but I really liked it just because of the East Sea that was refreshingly visible through the large window. It's a place where you can do nothing and just lie on the bed or sit on a hanging chair and just stare at the water all day long. I've booked many accommodations so far, but I've received many compliments saying that I made a great reservation. The bathroom structure of Elafonisi Hotel is a little unique. The bathroom, shower room, and sink are each separate. When you open the door and come in, there is a dry sink on the left, and next to it is a bathroom with a glass door. In front of the sink, there is a shelf with a hairdryer and towels, and next to it is a tall closet with a robe and disposable slippers. To the right of the door is a separate shower room, which is a bit narrow. The water pressure is really good, but after showering once, the towels laid out outside will get soaked with water, so be careful not to slip! Elafonisi Hotel has amenities. The shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion are Arder products, and they have a subtle refreshing feel. The comb and toothbrush, which have unique shapes and colors like eco-friendly products, are much better than the shoe brushes found at other hotels. Four bottles of water are provided. I filled the rest with beer I bought at a convenience store. Alcohol is a given when traveling. 🌊 Elafonisi Hotel Torang You can request breakfast & dinner BBQ at Elafonisi Hotel. It’s no different from other hotels, right? I had to go to my grandmother's house, so I didn't apply for either, but when I checked in, I remembered the menu in the room. I thought it was room service, but it was takeout. I scanned the QR code on the menu, ordered, and went to the basement level to pick it up. Since it's hotel food, you have to accept that it's a bit expensive. But I couldn't stand the visuals and taste that were different from what I expected. I think it would be good to pack chicken or other food like we did before coming into the hotel. :) 🌊 Watching the sunrise at the hotel At Elafonisi Hotel, you can watch the sunrise warmly and comfortably from your room without going outside. Most of the days when I couldn't wake up early in the morning or the weather was cloudy and I couldn't see the sunrise, but thanks to this, I was able to see the sunrise for the first time in a long time. This is a great place for sunrise, really. You have to wait until the sun rises. Don't give up until you think the sun won't rise, and wait a little longer. The red light will spread faintly beyond the horizon, and soon the round sun will rise, emitting a deeper and clearer red light into the sky. On the last day of December 31st before the new year begins, many people from all over the country will visit the East Sea to see the sunrise, and Gyeongju Gampo Elafonisi Hotel is the best place to see the sunrise, so many people will probably flock there. 🌊 Check-out Hotel check-out is at 11 o'clock. Before check-out, while my sister washes the dishes, Bejjangi sits on the hanging chair and enjoys the ocean view sparkling in the ocean until the end. Please separate your trash at the 2nd floor recycling area while checking out on your mobile phone! 🌊 It's good to know before you go The side of the large window that receives all the sunlight is hot. Outside, the wind is howling and the temperature is dropping, but inside the hotel is a steam room. Nevertheless, the East Sea, shining beautifully in the sunlight outside the large windows, is fantastic to see again. The hotel floor is like marble, so it catches the light very well and is slippery. I think it would be better for the children to wear non-slip socks rather than slippers. The children walked around barefoot, but please be careful of the floor that gets heated by the sunlight. I slept well thanks to the ASMR of the waves heard through the open window all night, but if you are sensitive to noise, it would be better to close the window and sleep!
