A Journey Through the Millennia: Exploring Daereungwon in Gyeongju

There are several ways to get to Daereungwon in Gyeongju from Busan International Airport (Gimhae Airport). The most common method is to take the Gimhae Light Rail Transit from the airport to Sasang Station, then take a bus to Gyeongju from the Busan West Intercity Bus Terminal. The bus ride takes about 1 hour and 20 minutes, and once you arrive at the Gyeongju Intercity Bus Terminal, you can take a taxi to Daereungwon, which takes about 10 minutes. Another option is to take a limousine bus directly from the airport to Singyeongju Station, and then take a taxi to Daereungwon. This option may save you some travel time. Daereungwon in Gyeongju is a tomb park where the tombs of kings and nobles from the Silla Dynasty are gathered. The large mounds covered with grass give the feeling of walking through green hills, making it one of Gyeongju's representative historical sites. Daereungwon boasts beautiful scenery all year round, and it becomes an even more attractive place when cherry blossoms in spring and autumn foliage are in full bloom. When I visited Daereungwon, it was drizzling, but the rain actually enhanced the serene and mysterious atmosphere of the place. The grass-covered tombs glistened, giving the impression that time had stopped. The rain also meant there were fewer visitors, allowing for a peaceful stroll. The sight of small droplets on the trees and flowers among the tombs was so beautiful that I couldn't resist taking photos. This place, where history and nature blend together, offered a truly special experience.
