🔆 Tourist Attraction: Hwaeomsa Temple in Gurye 🔆 Location: 539 Hwaeomsa-ro, Masan-myeon, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do - This is the headquarters of the 19th diocese of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism. There are no detailed records of its founding. In 670, during the reign of King Munmu of Silla, Great Master Uisang renovated Hwaeomsa Temple while making the 10 Hwaeom temples a place for spreading Buddhist teachings. At that time, Hwaeomsa Temple was a large temple with 81 temples in the 8th month of Garam, and it is said to have formed the so-called Hwaeom Buddhist World.
