Nansha Tin Hau Temple

Nansha Tin Hau Temple is a sacred place where visitors come to pray to the goddess Tin Hau (also known as Mazu) for blessings in their careers, recovery from illnesses, smooth travels, and overall success in life. This temple, dedicated to Mazu, the revered goddess of the sea, is highly respected among the Hokkien, Teochew, and overseas Chinese communities. It is recognized as the largest Mazu temple in Southeast Asia and is located in Nansha District, Guangzhou, China. Originally built during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) and later renovated during the Qing Dynasty (1644–1911), the temple eventually fell into ruin. The current structure was rebuilt in 1994. Situated on a mountain, the temple features Tianhua Square, a large open plaza with a 14.5-meter-tall granite statue of Mazu, composed of 365 individual pieces. Worshippers visit the temple year-round, and behind the statue lies the main temple building, constructed along the mountain slope.
