A great place to take the kids during the Lunar New Year

The Yuexiu Park Lantern Festival is a major event in Guangzhou during the Lunar New Year. 🕒 Time and location Time: January 16–February 16, 2025, for a total of 30 days. The lanterns will be lit from 18:00–22:00 each day (18:00–24:00 on the Lantern Festival). Location: Yuexiu Park, 988 Jiefang North Road, Yuexiu District, Guangzhou. 🎟️ Tickets and transportation Tickets: Adult tickets are CNY 40, while student and senior tickets are half price. Tickets can be purchased online or offline, and ID is not required to enter the park. Transportation: Take Metro Line 2 to Yuexiu Park Station, Exit B1, or drive to Yitai Plaza (paid parking is available). 🎉 Lantern festival highlights Phoenix Crown Lantern: The giant Cantonese opera phoenix crown at the park's main entrance is 28 meters tall and very impressive. Koi Welcome the New Era: The 128-meter-long koi lantern display at Beixiu Lake is even longer than last year's giant dragon lantern display. Good Luck: The mandarin orange lantern display near the main entrance features even more and larger oranges. Light of the National Games: A group of colorful lanterns featuring creative paintings by children, full of childlike fun. Eight Sights of Yangcheng: Displays the evolution of the Eight Sights of Yangcheng from the Song Dynasty to the present. 📍 Tour routes Time-saving route: Enter through the main entrance and view the Phoenix Crown Lantern, Good Luck, and Koi Welcome the New Era lantern displays in order. This route takes about 30 minutes. Full coverage route: Enter through the northwest gate of Yitai Plaza to see 95% of the lantern displays. This route takes about 2.5 hours. 📝 Tips Be careful when there are large crowds, watch your step, and parents should pay special attention to their children's safety. It is recommended to pick up a map at the entrance to help you find the lantern displays and restrooms you want to visit. There are not many snacks and foods available at the market, so you may want to bring some water and snacks.
