Beautiful scenery, delicious food, and truly refreshing! A 2-day, 1-night summer retreat guide to Baiyun Maofeng Mountain

Avoid the crowds and unnecessary expenses 💰. This weekend, I chose a lesser-known treasure trove for a summer vacation. It's just an hour's drive from the city center, located at the foot of Baiyun Maofeng Mountain in Guangzhou. Enjoy Taihe roast chicken, stay in a detached villa, visit the beer and lobster food carnival, and pick juicy Sunshine Rose grapes. It's a relaxed and cost-effective trip. First stop: Drive from downtown Guangzhou and check into the Baiyun Zhuosidao Yueshe Homestay. All accommodations here are detached villas. The one we stayed in had three rooms: two double bedrooms on the second floor and a twin room with child-friendly amenities on the third floor, making it very suitable for family trips and team-building activities. The exterior design features the Hui-style architecture with gray and white colors, nestled among green mountains and plants. Second stop: Head to Yunshangu Farm to eat the famous Taihe roast chicken. The chicken is freshly slaughtered, and the ribs are marinated right before your eyes. In just over twenty minutes, they are taken out of the oven and served hot on the table, smelling absolutely delicious! Not only are the roast chicken and ribs tasty, but the duck, fish, snails, homemade pickles, eggplant, and beans are also excellent. The stir-fried noodles with eggs have a great wok hei! The ingredients are fresh, and the seasoning is simple, but the taste is unbeatable! Especially the outdoor dining in the evening, which has a unique flavor. Third stop: Check out the Jin Feng Carnival in Baishan Village and experience the summer craft beer and lobster food carnival. The entire food market not only features various agricultural products and specialties from around Maofeng Mountain and Baishan Village but also gathers popular snacks from all over the country, full of a lively atmosphere. The event lasts until August 4th. You can take photos and post them on social media to receive coupons and enjoy food and drinks at various stalls. If you get tired of eating and drinking, you can sit down and watch a Stephen Chow movie with the locals. Fourth stop: Stream tracing, playing in the water, and grape picking On the second day, wake up naturally and find a nearby breakfast shop for a simple rice noodle roll. Surprisingly, it tastes better than many shops in the city. Baiyun is full of surprises! For friends who want to get close to nature with their kids, head to the foot of Maofeng Mountain, where you can trace streams, play in the water, catch fish, and shrimp, feeling cool and refreshed. As a foodie, I went straight to the Happy Vineyard, where I picked various types of grapes in the 50-acre vineyard. The fresh Sunshine Rose grapes were incredibly sweet. After picking and eating, I even asked the owner to pack a few boxes to take home, letting the weekend's joy extend into the workweek. No need for long and tiring journeys, no need to queue for hours just to play for a few minutes, no need to spend several times more money than usual... This summer, stay around Guangzhou, stay at Baiyun Maofeng Mountain, enjoy the food and scenery, and cherish the rare gatherings with family and friends for a relaxed vacation.
